First italian edition of Sotheby's Premium has to be awarded to Palazzo Borghese' outside parts restoration on. Sotheby's Premium comes from collaboration between Association Historical Residences (Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane - ADSI) and famous english House of Auction, for stimulation to research of new solutions dealing with restore problems and tuition of historical private residences.

During the esecution of restore problems have been numerous: ruined plasters and marble parts, figures and stucco decorations from fountains. Every part has requied a punctilious evaluation and cataloguetion about different estate of degrade with chemical and stratigraphyc analysis for relative origins consideration. To conserve more possible original materials has been the basic will, eccepted impossible cases. Restoration has interested the great ninfeo with other properties attached to it, the loggia with its three overlaied orders and inside prospect to Ripetta. It has been realized with three different successive fases: general cleaning and initial consolidation to avoid detaching during next fases; elimination of incrustations; definitly reconsolitation, recomposition and finishing touch.

Diffuse phenomenons of dulling had corroded superficial layer of walls while fountains had more serious situations for water dropping, and massive incrustation of calcium carbonate had inglobed original materials. Plasters parts no more recoverable has been removed and reinstating with mortars of idraulic limes with low saline contents and acrilyc latex. Big zones of stucco exploded for water infiltrations of fraying tubing. Method used in this case has been very interesting for using infiltrations of acrilyc resins. By this way it has been possible to use again ancient tube system for fountains function.

It has been donated great attention to colours of stucco, marbles and various parts to restore with more fidelity then possible cromatic integrity. It has been restored the garden to complete the salvage of ninfeo's entire complex, too. In the garden it has been persecuted research of original ancient essences. Little boulevards and lawns divide themselves radially from the emicicle pavement with mosaic, under princely apartment, to exceptional mytological fountains. You can not be affascinated by decorative luxuriance of Fontana di Venere.

This meticoulous work of restore has returned one of the most suggestive and precious corner of roman Barocco to art cultors and not only. ADSI has no gain and it purposes itself to aid conservation, valorization and management of historical residences, contributing to world cultural estate tuition. It is a pleasure to verify how is possible to obtain good results only with private mobilization which is interested to historical-artistic estate tuition of immeasurable value. We wish ourself it will be the beginnig of a major attention to this sector.
